It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

As Subaru-Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers we are not usually in an area long enough to develop any kind of routine. That being said we have now been cruising around Arkansas for 10-days and we’ve started to establish a sweet little pattern of Leave No Trace events, followed by getting outside and exploring the “natural state.” We’ve had such a nice time we thought we’d share a little slideshow of some of the highlights from the past week. If we weren’t headed to Western North Carolina tomorrow, we’d be quite sad to leave!

Canoeing the Buffalo

Yesterday we enjoyed a little trip down the Buffalo River.  After camping at Tyler's Bend, we put in at Woolum and paddled about 17 miles down to Grinder's Ferry.  The day was full of great scenery and wildlife.  If you look closely at the picture you will see numerous grey herrings in their nests.

From 'Blazen Burritos' to Blazin the Trail

We hit up 'Blazen Burritos' in Fort Smith, AR the other day. A husband and wife business with great food and even greater customer service.

After burritos we headed to Compton, AR where we hit the Centerpoint Trail for a little hike. Our destination was the 'Goat Trail'. We hiked down the Centerpoint for about 2.5 miles where we took a side trail (the Goat Trail) to the right that led to a 4 foot wide trail. A huge rock wall to one side and a 300 foot drop to the other. Look closely, you can see Emily on the far right.

KILLER RACCOON!!!

So, we were recently at a scout camp in Ohio when we spotted this cute little raccoon hanging out in the woods.  The next thing we knew a truck pulls up and two guys get out with a shot gun.  They proceed to walk over and shoot the raccoon that was actually very sick.

Any idea how many shots it takes to off an Ohio raccoon?
